The Italian government is preparing to impose a tax on profits from cryptocurrency trading.

According to the information in the budget draft published yesterday, a 26 percent tax payment will be made in Italy in 2023 if the profit from crypto money trading exceeds 2,000 euros.

It is estimated that around 1.3 million people in Italy are crypto investors. This figure corresponds to 2.3 percent of the population.

If the bill becomes law, Italians will have to declare their cryptocurrency holdings to the government from January 1, and they will pay 14 percent tax on their current holdings.
